NIKKI SIXX To Launch 'The Heroin Diaries' With 'Funeral' Single
March 30, 2007MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has posted the following message in his online diary:
"The first single from 'The Heroin Diaries' album [companion to the book drawn from Nikki's 1986 and '87 journals, when he was in the throes of a heroin addiction] is done. The track is called 'Funeral' and really is a celebration about being alive. James Michael, who wrote, produced and performed the whole album along with me and DJ [Ashba, ex-BEAUTIFUL CREATURES guitarist] has mixed the first single. Things are moving fast now and an audio book is in works too. It will launch at the same time with the book and album. First video will be shot in two weeks too."
Sixx previously said about the "The Heroin Diaries" book, "The more it sells, the more awareness on drug and alcohol addiction and the more money it will raise for Running Wild in the Night [Nikki's fundraising initiative that helps homeless and troubled youth get off the streets] and Covenant House. It's really a great read now that all the pieces of the puzzle are in place. So many people came to the table to tell their side of the story relating to the actual diary entries.
"The title of the book is somewhat misleading 'cause it also deals with my family problems as a kid, depression as well as my downward spiral into freebase and pill addiction as well etc. etc.
"Lemmy [MOTÖRHEAD] wrote a short medical history for the beginning of the book, very demented — like only Lemmy can be."
